The Gruene Door
The Gruene Door restaurant was opened in early 2009 by Michael and Debbie Flume. Executive Chef Koury Kahler and his wife Kelsee took ownership of The Gruene Door in 2016. Koury, who is originally from New Braunfels, attended culinary schools both in Austin, TX and Napa Valley, CA. After graduating culinary school, Koury was a chef for Renaissance and Ritz Carlton Hotels and Resorts for the following 10 years in such locations as New York City, Austin, Dallas, and Naples, Florida. After returning to school to obtain a Master Degree in Finance from Texas A&M University, Koury worked in investment firms for the following 8 years. Missing the crazy and exciting restaurant life and still passionate about the culinary arts, Koury sharpened his knives and he and Kelsee returned home to New Braunfels in 2016 to take over the reins of The Gruene Door.
The Gruene Door is an upscale, casual eclectic American restaurant with patio seating, a scratch kitchen, over 60 fine wines, and a full bar with craft cocktails and Texas craft beers. The restaurant is located in quaint Gruene Lake Village, surrounded by local shops, a martini bar and wine bar in Gruene, TX.
The Gruene Door is consistently rated as one of the best restaurants in the San Antonio/Austin area.
